On "stop", we tell qemu to shut down the VM and execute the poststop
It'd be interesting to know:
- what you call "so long", it shouldn't take one minute for instance!
- how you are stopping the container
- the image/workload you are giving to docker, maybe there's an
interesting interaction between this image and shutting down the VM.
- do you have any special poststop hook?
Can you check if your container has internet connectivity (specifically to NTP)
If you are behind a proxy, can you check if launching the container with the right proxy
settings reduces the shutdown time.
docker run -it -e HTTP_PROXY=$http_proxy -e HTTPS_PROXY=$https_proxy ....
Also does your shutdown time increase/decrease if you shutdown the container immediately
vs shutting it down after running it for a while.
