Well, the problem is that I don't know how to enter the shell. The device I'm using cannot do ADB over USB. And as ethernet is not active, I can't access it through TCP. And once the graphics stack has started, AFAIK I can't access the local console anymore.

I changed the driver in device/intel/mixins/groups/ethernet/dhcp/init.rc so that it contains the following, but that didn't work, ethernet is still not active:


on post-fs

    insmod /vendor/lib/modules/kernel/drivers/pps/pps_core.ko

    insmod /vendor/lib/modules/kernel/drivers/ptp/ptp.ko

    insmod /vendor/lib/modules/kernel/drivers/net/ethernet/intel/igb/igb.ko


It's probably time to give Android P a try instead.
