I implemented a patch following above description. In addition, the
patch takes into account that ConnMan will only ask for an active scan
if user has connected to at least one WiFi network in the past and the
WiFi chipset support active scanning. If those conditions are not
true, ConnMan will always ask for a passive scan.
This approach seems useful to me. Can I also request a clarification on the
BackgroundScanning section of connman.conf(5)?
I would suggest something like:
Enable background scanning. Default is true. Background
scanning will start every 5 minutes unless the scan list
is empty. In that case, a simple backoff mechanism
starting from 10s up to 5 minutes will run.
+ When BackgroundScanning is false, ConnMan will not actively
+ scan for or configured networks, even when disconnected,
+ unless it is explicitly requested via a Scan() invocation
+ via D-Bus.
Many thanks for your work on this!
