Hello,

I have recently added 2 more OSS nodes and assigned 1 OST to each node, but client report these new OSTs are inactive, my other OSTs on older OSS servers looks fine and they are active. I do not find any reason in the logs of MDS/OSS/Client.

I tried following things but none of them seems to work, this is a test setup:

1. Unmount and Mount the lustre file system on the client

2. Unmount, reformt the MDT and OSTs followed by mounting MDT, OST and client

3. Run command to activate OST manually – “lctl --device lustre-OST0000 activate”, but I get following error:

a. error: activate: failed: Inappropriate ioctl for device

Please advise, my setup is:

· 1 MDS / MGS Server

· 4 OSS Servers

o 2 OSS servers running on 2 different hypervisors

o 6 OST devices, 4 are configured with 1^st two OSS Servers and one each on new OSS Servers

· 8 Clients

o 4 client each on 2 hypervisors

· All data devices are on an external storage array

o LUNs for 1^st two OSS are coming from one array port

o LUNs for 3^rd and 4^th OSS are coming from different array port
