Hi everyone!
I am running iwd 1.9 (dunfell Yocto Project 3.1) with ell 0.33 with
Linux kernel 4.4.236.
I can start iwd in station mode without any problem and connect to my
router.
[iwd]# device wlan0 show

when I try to start iwd in AP mode (ap wlan0 start myssid mypassword
) and try to establish a connection to my AP I get the error "Couldn't
connect to network"

I have tested with hostapd and I can connect without any problem but it
doesn't work with iwd-ap!!

What hardware are you running? Is it Broadcom by any chance? If so, you need
iwd version >= 1.12 for AP mode to work.

Hi Denis,
After some try and error I have found the the /etc/iwd/main.conf case
this error, I have deleted it. my main.conf looks like
[General]
EnableNetworkConfiguration=true
APRanges=192.168.5.1/24
[Network]
RoutePriorityOffset=200
NameResolvingService=resolvconf
Now I can start iwd 1.13 without problem but still can not connect to
this ap. I have started iwd-ap and I got [connection to "myssid"
timeout out. connection failed].

This is rather strange. Looks like CMD_FRAME is failing. Can you send us logs
(iwmon and iwd with '-d') of both sides of the connection? Make sure iwmon is
started prior to iwd so we get a trace of the full initialization procedure.

even with this config file I cannot start the iwd-1.13, I have removed
it first. I have a read-only file system.

Can you tell us what hardware / driver is being used for the AP

the same hardware works fine in station mode?
I am using a custome hardware with Cortex-A7 and Linux kernel 4.4.245.
I am using also a combo WiFi/BT module with SDIO interface (
https://www.qualcomm.com/products/qca9377) with the LEA 2.0 driver from
Qualcomm.
You are right the station mode with iwd is working fine. Also the AP
with hostapd is working fine, but not with iwd-ap.

I can provide you with the iwmon and iwd logs from the device side, at
the other side I am using my mobile phone or Laptop with different
wireless networkmanager.
I have done the following
sh-5.0# iwmon &
sh-5.0# /usr/libexec/iwd -d &
then started iwctl
sh-5.0# iwctl
[iwd]# device wlan0 set-property Mode ap
[iwd]# ap wlan0 start myssid password
