Hello, I am new to the list and looks like I've got lucky timing. Penguin Computing just got some NVDIMM's and a BIOS to support them in our Tundra Relion 1930g system. (Haswell, DDR4, memory + flash + supercap, 8GB) I was able to compile and boot 4.0.0 and get the device detected as persistent. Loaded pmem which took ownership of it. Made an XFS filesystem on it and was able to read/write to it. As mentioned in another thread, performance isn't anything to write home about just yet, but I'm sure it will improve. I've also got some BIOS bugs to fix which I'm working on separately. I'll keep an eye out for benchmarks to run and patches to try. My goal is to be able to use an NVDIMM as a ZFS ZIL or other filesystem journal to accelerate filesystem performance. NVDIMM's are architecturally identical to the ZeusRAM SCSI drive used by many to accelerate ZFS performance. One would hope that we can get performance to equal or exceed that device (a 6Gbps SAS drive). Let me know how I can help.
