[regression: Disable FENTRY [net-next] 9e42a6b103: WARNING: CPU: 0 PID: 1 at kernel/trace/trace_functions_graph.c:223 ftrace_return_to_handler()
by kernel test robot
Greetings,
0day kernel testing robot got the below dmesg and the first bad commit is
https://github.com/alaahl/linux.git for-upstream
commit 9e42a6b103785ab03935cd251cc59b200892197f

regression: Disable FENTRY [net-next:regression]
-mfentry is supported only on gcc 4.6+. Kernel will select it by default
if gcc support it. Meaning that can't compile external module on new gcc
with a kernel that was compiled on a new one.
Disabling FENTRY even if gcc supports it.
If CONFIG_WANTS_KDUMP is 'y' FENTRY is not disabled

FYI, we noticed the below changes on
https://github.com/pantoniou/linux-beagle-track-mainline.git bbb-overlays
commit 7d04a2ef9583830b4d09ef8966dfdd4a96780aad ("of: unittest: Unit-tests for target root overlays.")
We found there are quite some OF unittests errors in kernel log, while
the line marked with + is new after this commit. This is intended? Or
should be fixed?

cpufreq: postfix policy directory with the first CPU in related_cpus
The sysfs policy directory is postfixed currently with the CPU number
for which the policy was created, which isn't necessarily the first CPU
in related_cpus mask.
To make it more consistent and predictable, lets postfix the policy with
the first cpu in related-cpus mask.

[mm, x86] BUG: unable to handle kernel paging request at 0000000000001f08
by Fengguang Wu
Greetings,
0day kernel testing robot got the below dmesg and the first bad commit is

mm, x86: Enable memoryless node support to better support CPU/memory hotplug
With current implementation, all CPUs within a NUMA node will be
associated with another NUMA node if the node has no memory installed.
For example, on a four-node system, CPUs on node 2 and 3 are associated
with node 0 when are no memory install on node 2 and 3, which may
confuse users.

To be worse, the CPU affinity relationship won't get fixed even after
memory has been added to those nodes. After memory hot-addition to
node 2, CPUs on node 2 are still associated with node 0. This may cause
sub-optimal performance.

Disabling lock debugging due to kernel taint
Removing the lower 2MB made the start of the lowmem zone to no longer
be page block aligned. IFC6410 uses CONFIG_FLATMEM where
alloc_node_mem_map allocates memory for the mem_map. alloc_node_mem_map
will offset for unaligned nodes with the assumption the pfn/page
translation functions will account for the offset. The functions for
CONFIG_FLATMEM do not offset however, resulting in overrunning
the memmap array. Just use the allocated memmap without any offset
when running with CONFIG_FLATMEM to avoid the overrun.

rcu: use simple wait queues where possible in rcutree
As of commit dae6e64d2bcfd4b06304ab864c7e3a4f6b5fedf4 ("rcu: Introduce
proper blocking to no-CBs kthreads GP waits") the RCU subsystem started
making use of wait queues.
Here we convert all additions of RCU wait queues to use simple wait queues,
since they don't need the extra overhead of the full wait queue features.
Originally this was done for RT kernels[1], since we would get things like...
BUG: sleeping function called from invalid context at kernel/rtmutex.c:659

...and hence simple wait queues were deployed on RT out of necessity
(as simple wait uses a raw lock), but mainline might as well take
advantage of the more streamline support as well.
[1] This is a carry forward of work from v3.10-rt; the original conversion
was by Thomas on an earlier -rt version, and Sebastian extended it to
additional post-3.10 added RCU waiters; here I've added a commit log and
unified the RCU changes into one, and uprev'd it to match mainline RCU.
