[Bug 9449] New: sync-ui: two main windows
by bugzilla@moblin.org
http://bugzilla.moblin.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9449
Summary: sync-ui: two main windows
Classification: Moblin Projects
Product: SyncEvolution
Version: upstream
Platform: Netbook
OS/Version: Moblin Linux
Status: ASSIGNED
Severity: major
Priority: P1
Component: GTK UI
AssignedTo: jku(a)linux.intel.com
ReportedBy: patrick.ohly(a)intel.com
QAContact: yanshuang.zheng(a)intel.com
CC: syncevolution(a)lists.intel.com
When compiled for GTK without libunique, sync-ui pops up the main window twice.
In other words, I have two windows on my screen at the same time with only one
sync-ui process running.

The source URI is an opaque string. There are other, standardized methods to
detect clients, like the DevInf, which is properly filled in by
SyncEvolution/Synthesis.

Then Horde should use the source URI fallback only when the DevInf is
incomplete.

Yes, please. However, the identifier is not part of the template, it is
hard-coded in source code.
We cannot change it there, because the Funambol server itself requires us to
provide the sc-pim- prefix. Otherwise it won't allow multiple SyncEvolution
instances to talk to the same user account.
Both Funambol and Horde should be fixed to not depend on what we send in that
field.
The only client-side solution that I see is to make the prefix configurable as
part of the server template.

Hi there. (once again, hopefully with CRs)
I received an email from one of the horde groupware developers:
>SyncEvolution uses a device id (i.e. source URI) with a format that is already
>being used by Funambol clients: sc-pim-1b6ce05d-a34e-4157-aa77-4a19896b5126.

>We could probably use a smarter detection method, or ignore this one rule
>completely because there aren't any of this broken client out in the wild
>anymore, but this won't happen before the next major release of Horde.
>SyncEvolution should really use their own Source-URI naming scheme though, that
>would solve the problem too.
After receiving this comment, I modified the device ID in config.ini (replacing
sc-pim with my-n900) and it worked flawlessly! *jumps in the air*
I used the funambol template when creating the configuration for horde which
works with some minor modifications (one of them beeing the device id) with
horde as well.
Shall I attach my configuration, so we can create a new template for horde
groupware servers?

[Bug 7808] New: config templates in /usr/etc
by bugzilla@moblin.org
http://bugzilla.moblin.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7808
Summary: config templates in /usr/etc
Classification: Moblin Projects

Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: SyncEvolution
AssignedTo: patrick.ohly(a)intel.com

There's a not unreasonable expectation that these config templates can be
copied as they are and then be used after editing them (the Unix way instead of
using the command line or this GUI thingy...).
Right now, the templates are only almost complete. The type setting must be
added to the source config.ini files. At least one user ran into the resulting
"type 'select backend'" error.
We might also change something else:
* install in /etc
* don't install at all, if not needed
