This is a meta-issue that tracks the initial definition and development of that API in SyncEvolution. Because of a vCard encoding issue on the server side, spaces in long notes may get removed. Like Evolution, SyncEvolution does not yet support some of the advanced features of the server, in particular custom labels for phone numbers, emails and addresses. Likewise, some client properties are not supported by the server: CALURI, CATEGORIES, FBURL, GEO and ROLE are not supported. Of ORG, only the first two components are supported. Currently, properties not supported by one side get lost in a full roundtrip sync. Two approaches: 1. Encrypt only the vCard data. 2. Encrypt the entire DB, including indices. I assume that option 1 is not good enough, because an attacker may be able to reconstruct contact strings from the indices. EDS did not properly close active sources when clients died prematurely. This was fixed in 3.9, could be backported. mbarnes said on IRC that he might do that himself. There are some patches from the openismus-work branch which did not make it into 3.8, most notable database updates when the locale changes. See bug #59571.
