I guess they can, but only if there is a template...
What I meant is the "add manually" under "services". That offers all
relevant
controls for a HTTP SyncML server so that one can be configured without
template. For devices, the manual controls do not offer the same kind of
control (cannot set URI, for example) and therefore a matching template is
needed.
Yes, that's absolutley needed. 1.2 doesn't work. Commenting
it out also doesn't
work btw.
(Although I saw that in the c++ source code there is some trial and error -
after failing with 1.2, trying 1.1 if the version is not explicitly set in the
config file but maybe I misinterpreted the code - would have to look at it
again)
There should indeed be an automatic fallback. Why it doesn't work is a good
question.

It's not enabled by default. I'll try out --advanced and look a bit deeper into
syncevolution-phone-config in general...
Yeah, me too. If only I wouldn't have to press two buttons on my K750 for each
failed sync attempt...

If you want to enhance the tool, patches would certainly be welcome. There's
also another idea for improvement that I had while trying to integrate the tool
into a "submit your result" workflow:

Nope - there are only 3 checkboxes available. The "Appointments" and
"Tasks"
checkboxes are missing (most probably because the "Appointments & Tasks"
checkbox is there instead). On the GUI "frontpage" those 2 categories still
show up though and in the ini files "sync" is "= two-way".
The the configuration of the "Appointments" and "Tasks" sources (=
calendar,
todo) is wrong. It should have "sync=none" once a virtual source using them is
configured.
