Yes, that's absolutley needed. 1.2 doesn't work. Commenting it out also
doesn't
work btw.
(Although I saw that in the c++ source code there is some trial and error -
after failing with 1.2, trying 1.1 if the version is not explicitly set in the
config file but maybe I misinterpreted the code - would have to look at it
again)

so I'm not
merging your patch directly.
That was not a real patch of course - just a quick-fix for me and pointing out
the error to you.
So, just to be sure: you need SyncMLVersion=1.1 and the tool did not
put that
into the generated config? It's definitely not in the output that you quoted.
Yes, that's right - hence the 2'nd command in comment 14

In the config files, set sync=none. In the sync-ui, just unset the checkmarks.
I learned more about the command-line tool also and now know of at least 5 ways
to do it. :-) thanks

Is "Appointments&Tasks" enabled when creating a config with
--combined-calendar-task? I think you also need --advanced to reliably detect a
correct config.
It's not enabled by default. I'll try out --advanced and look a bit deeper into
syncevolution-phone-config in general...

This is something that I don't understand. Can't you uncheck the unwanted
categories before "Save and use"?
Nope - there are only 3 checkboxes available. The "Appointments" and
"Tasks"
checkboxes are missing (most probably because the "Appointments & Tasks"
checkbox is there instead). On the GUI "frontpage" those 2 categories still
show up though and in the ini files "sync" is "= two-way".
