Looks to me like the client might be connecting to the wrong service in the N900 case. The Service Class UUID is the same for both of them but at the end the value of the Service Name attibute in netbook record is "OBEX server for SyncML, using SyncEvolution" whereas the N900 has "SyncML Client", so that's at least a little bit suspicious.
