I agree that the issue is valid. But I would rather solve it by
having
syncevo-http-server do all the work (set up D-Bus session, start
syncevo-dbus-server) when a specific command line option is given.
Yes, that would be a good solution too. And as an added bonus, http-server
could kill the dbus-server when the client shuts down its syncml session (if
such a concept exists... else maybe a timeout?)
Of course, patches for integrating an HTTP server into syncevo-dbus-server are
also welcome.
In the near future I'll probably have no time for preparing them, but I might
get around it sometimes next year.
Another alternative would be to have syncevo-http-server behave like a CGI, to
be invoked by Apache. That way the user would not need to bother starting it
up, as Apache would do that for him. And SSL support would be easy to add, as
Apache supports that out of the box.
