When I use the syncevolution tool to sync personal info. including calendar and
to-do list form the
Google server with the default moblin2 server settings, I have got errors of
"Calendar Not found" and
"To do Not found" repectively.
PS:
1. syncevolution version:
syncevolution-0.8.1.99.5.09beta3.20090727-1.4.moblin2.i586
2. The default Google server settings:
Server URL: https://m.google.com/syncml
Addressbook URI: contacts
Calendar URI: event
Memo URI: note
Todo URI: task
Reproduce Steps(steps,current result, reproduce possibility)

(1)double click the syncevolution APP icon to run sync-ui
(2)at the Google services line, click "setup and use"
(3)enter the user name and password
(4)click "reset original server settings" and "save and use this
service"
(5)click "sync now" and got the error info.

Google only supports contacts. Jussi, do the error messages correspond to the
404 status codes that we get when running a sync with other data categories
enabled?
In the steps to reproduce the issue, the following one is probably crucial:
(4)click "reset original server settings" and "save
and use this service"
I suspect that it enables all sources, even though the Google template doesn't
have all of them enabled. Jussi, does that sound likely?

That shouldn't be the case but it sure looks that way: "<Source> not
found"
means we received a PEV_SYNCEND with DB_NotFound error.
I'll look into it.

That shouldn't be the case but it sure looks that way: "<Source> not
found"
means we received a PEV_SYNCEND with DB_NotFound error.
I'll look into it.
Thanks for your reply. I want to add some additional information. It is that we
have
verified this problem at our Shanghai and Taipei office, and we have got the
same results.

Google sync does not support calendar and todo. By default, calendar and todo
are not checked in Sync UI.
If you select them, then you will get Sync Failed message. Todo: Not found.
Calendar： Not found.
Maybe we should change the error message to make it more friendly.

Another way of triggering this error is by simply enabling the "calendar"
source in the main screen of the sync UI (bug #6147).
It seems we have "calendar", "task", "memo" in our Google
template. We should
change this so that these data sources aren't even listed, instead of listing
them with "sync = none".
Then the GUI at least has a chance of determining that the data category isn't
supported, instead of only disabled by default (like calendar with Funambol).
In the latter case the configuration is correct, but we know that it won't work
satisfactorily. Again, warning the user when he enables these sources is a
different aspect of the same problem.

This sort of discussion is better suited for a mailing list (Syncevolution or
Moblin, depending on the question) than bugzilla, so please send any responses
there.
I've been told the evolution-data-server caldav backend mostly works, and that
Evolution with Google calendars is usable. So, in theory Dates (Moblin
calendar) should be able to handle that as well, it's just that there is no UI
to set things up and there has definitely been no testing so far.
Personally I feel that including caldav in syncevolution would be the wrong
move (caldav is IMO not synchronization, it's about storing your calendar in
the cloud). I might of course be wrong and there is a way to tie syncml and
caldav together...
In any case enhancing caldav support in moblin and even having the caldav setup
UI somehow related to the syncevolution setup ui sound like good goals.

unsupported sources are defined with empty source URIs. This is not in fact the
case (except in my own configs where things worked fine).
The idea is not a stupid one however and Patrick agreed we can make it so:

Fixed in the Google template. Note that this will only work for new
configurations, existing users still have the problem that they might
accidentally enable one of the unsupported sources with Google.
Assigning back to Jussi to come up with a better error message for this kind of
misconfiguration. Not sure how important it is, though, after fixing it for
Google. Perhaps "Calendar <uri here> not found on server"?

google calendar and task are disabled in sync-ui, and thus no such issue any
more.
