Something seems to have changed lately as I get "-" for password in GetConfig
(password is saved in keyring). I assumed I'd get the real password.
Yongsheng, is this because of server side keyring implementation
(1dd1323f399a)?

Yes, keyring support will save the real password in the gnome-keyring. But
This is our expected behavior. I remember I discussed this behavior with
Patrick: whether to show real password when printing config? The answer is 'no'
in preference. Because we want to keep it secret.
Is there any problem to block you?

I remember that discussion, but that was for the command line. The D-Bus API
might have different requirements. Jussi was obviously expecting that he can
get the password via the D-Bus GetConfig() call.
Is there any problem to block you?
The sync-UI will show a blank password field where previously it showed dots.
There might also be use cases where we need to extract the password via D-Bus
to copy it into a different config. I suggest we make the password available in
GetConfig().

ok, so we could invoke 'checkPassword' for password
properties. Eventually, it
will invoke ConfigUI's askPassword to get passwords.
For DBusSync, its constructor needs 'session' parameter. This is not suitable
for GetConfig, because it has no session. Also, the behavior of askPassword
here used is different from that of DBusSync. It should never ask password from
dbus clients if can't find it from gnome-keyring.
so My suggestion is to add a new class between SyncContext and DBusSync.

Here goes again: I could implement the current functionality with just a
pseudo-config-value "PasswordLength" without getting the actual password...
Otherwise I need the password.

Otherwise I need the password.
There's a valid use-case for returning the password (copying into another
config) and determining the password length requires accessing it, so let's
proceed as Yongsheng suggested.

With syncevolution 0.9.99.4 in 2.2-preview-20100203 image, I can see '.' on
syncUI for service password.
