[SyncEvolution] sending photo to Nokia phone (N97 mini): wrong CTCap
by Patrick Ohly
Hello!
I'm investigating why a photo sent to a Nokia device does not show
properly on the device. It was originally reported for a 5800
(http://bugs.meego.com/show_bug.cgi?id=5860); I can also reproduce it
with a N97 mini.
One problem is that the device lies about its capabilities. CTCap
contains 256 as maximum length for PHOTO. When encoding, the Synthesis
library dutifully obliges and truncates the field.
The device clearly is capable of handling larger photos - the photo was
originally attached to the contact *on* the device itself and then
copied to the server.
Is there a remote rule that I can use to ignore the length limitation of
the PHOTO property? Should I ignore the whole CTCap, as it is clearly
not based on reality? I think there is an option for that, but won't
that have undesirable effects like not preserving local extensions that
are really not supported by the phone?
Another problem might be the TYPE. Evolution doesn't set JPEG by itself.
We may have to add that to the outgoing PHOTO.

[SyncEvolution] Funambol Client compatibility
by Nikolaus Filus
Hi,
I got a new HTC Desire Android phone a few days ago and had to transfer all my
previous phone data to the new phone.
Sony Ericsson w890i worked fine with syncevolution through BT.
Transfer back to Desire with funambol client or thunderbird with funambol client
fails each time with the same symptoms. The mozilla plugin log and the output of
syncevo-http-server are attached:

[SyncEvolution] Android support for Syncevolution?
by Anssi Saari
So, is there any kind of Android support in syncevolution? From Google
it seems some work has been done and of course Synthesis AG has their
commercial tool. But before my 30 days of evaluation runs out, is
there anything else available?

[SyncEvolution] Is the libgdbus clash present with official debian packages?
by David Bremner
,----
| This message of August 7 seems not to have reached the syncevolution
| list. I resending because I have been undergoing email "challenges".
`----
Has the crash referred to in
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=606647
been duplicated with the packages ( 1.0+ds1~beta2a-1+b1 ) in debian
testing? I just tried with the version in the archive and a freshly
built version, and I could not duplicate the behaviour.
I agree that it would be nicer from a user point to get 1.0.1 in for
Squeeze, but with the freeze being announced August 6, it will require
some convincing of the release managers.
If there other severe problems with current packages, please file debian
bugs as soon as possible.

[SyncEvolution] debian packages, call for testers.
by David Bremner
Hi Syncevolution people;
I'd like to get 1.0.1 into Debian squeeze. Because we are currently in a
freeze, I don't want to do too many uploads. Therefore it would be
helpful if people could test out the packages I (with some help from
Thomas and Tino) made at
http://pivot.cs.unb.ca/debian/pool/main/s/syncevolution/
See http://www.cs.unb.ca/~bremner/software/debian/ for instructions on
adding my repo to your sources.list and how to add my public key. Or you
can just get the .debs and install with dpkg -i.
These install in a more or less current debian squeeze (testing) system.
One thing that is not well tested on my side is the syncevo-http-server
script. Currently this is in its own binary package because of fairly
large dependencies.

[SyncEvolution] Support for Mac OS X
by Tobias Jähnel
Hi all,
I want to try the funambol server for central storage of my contacts,
tasks and calendar and sync them with my desktops and phone.
Since the official funambol client for Mac OS X offers support for
addressbook sync only I am searching for an alternative.
Could you tell me how much OS X support is included in syncevolution?

[SyncEvolution] Nokia C5 produces duplicate addressbook entries
by Stephan Janz
Hi all,
I'm totally new to syncevolution since I got a Nokia C5 last week. I had
some trouble syncing until I disabled anything else than address-book.
When I got the first sync working I run into trouble resulting in
duplicate and incomplete entries on both sides (C5 and evolution).
I removed all contacts from the mobile restored my evolution
address-book, than did another sync which worked well.
Now every time I run another sync I get all entries duplicated on the
mobile.
This are the versions installed:
SyncEvolution 1.0beta3
using libedataserver-1.2.so.11
using libebook-1.2.so.9
using libecal-1.2.so.7
using libecal-1.2.so.7
using libbluetooth.so.3
My configuration: http://pastebin.com/vqCV8qXE
Do you have any hints for me?
Thanks,
Stephan

[SyncEvolution] schedule sync
by Patrick Hendriks
Hello,
I'm using Ubuntu 10.04 with Sync-Evolution. Latest version.
How do I schedule syncing? I tried "scheduled tasks", but that seems not
to work. I remember using Genesis and syncevolution-evolution, where
scheduling worked. Can this also be done with sync-evolution and Cron?
Please tell me how to do this.

Patrick

[SyncEvolution] Horde - synchronising contacts
by Michael Pacey
Hi,
I am trying to setup Horde as a central repository for calendar,
contacts, tasks and notes. My intention is to use it as a with my Nokia
N900 phone and Evolution on my laptop with syncEvolution doing the sync.
While synchronising Evolution with Horde I have hit a problem with
contacts. I can synchronise Contacts into Turba and they are visible in
the Turba contacts list but if I try to edit or view a contact I get an
error:
Message The contact you requested does not exist
I have gone through the wiki page here:
http://syncevolution.org/documentation/compatibility#Horde
The information seems a bit out of date, but I used what I could to get
syncing working. Initially I had not added the deviceId configuration
and hoped that might be the problem but it's not made any difference. I
also looked at the modified Turba SQL but I see sources.php needs to be
updated to use it and I can't find that in my Horde installation - so
maybe this information is out-of-date too.
Any help would be appreciated! Apologies if I should be posting to a
Horde list instead, let me know and I'll try there instead.
Cheers
Michael
