[SyncEvolution] EDS Crash with "Christmas-Release"
by Fionn Behrens
Hi & happy new year!
I have been using syncevolution to keep my nokia cellphone in sync with
evolution calendar, notes and address book successfully for some time
now.
Everything was fine until approx. mid-December, when I stopped working
and took some extended holidays. During this time, I did not sync my
phone.
Now I am back to work and have a problem. I added a number of new
appointments in evolution and wanted to transfer them to the phone but
every time syncevolution tries to run, my evolution data server crashes
and I have to restart evolution to be able to continue using the
calendar.
Apparently there was a "Christmas update" and I suspect that it changed
something. However, I fail to find a source to the packages of the
previous version.
I use this deb line:
deb http://www.estamos.de/download/apt unstable main
My linux distro is Ubuntu Maverick with evolution 2.30.3
I'd appreciate any help to get it running again.
kind regards,
Fionn

[SyncEvolution] Kontact's ics-calendar-file to N900 synchronises properly until VTODO's or VJOURNAL items are present.
by Hans de Jonge
Hi,
I want to synchronise a local agenda of KDE's Korganizer-kontact with my Nokia N900
native calendar: using the file-backend.
I succeeded in synchronising the N900-calendar with a small test-calendar in a file
called calendar.ics. Hence I know Syncevolution on my desktop system now
communicates fine over BT with the Nokia built-in SyncML server.
When replacing the calendar.ics file with the larger
actual calendar+journal+todo file from kontact, things
stop working, e.g:
First ERROR encountered: calendar: retrieving item: 20080907T221411Z-10975-1000-1-48@freyja-rid
Besides VEVENT-s, the kontact calendar.ics file also contains VTODO and VJOURNAL items. These seem to be the problem: When I remove these with a plain text-editor, all 707 calendar-events are transferred properly to the N900 and subsequent synchronisation tests are succesfull enough.
A few things could be wrong:
1) for this calendar with multiple types I need to select another backend than:
type=calendar:text/calendar or type=calendar:text/x-vcalendar
Obviously this backend should ignore VTODOs and VJOURNAL items when
requested.
2) VTODO items are loaded by the backend, but since I am not yet interested
in them (first things first: the calendar) I did not configure to send to
a proper place (in the N900, or some /dev/null for now) thereby also
causing this lethal error.
3) Something else.
Any Solutions?
Furthermor: it took me some carefull searching to find the specific N900 uri-feature:
uri=Calendar (the capital C), are these exact uri's documented somewhere or can they
be retreived from somewhere on the phone itself (e.g. a plain-text config
file, or some Nokia technical document)?
For completeness: Config @ Debian (syncevolution 1.1.1 )

[SyncEvolution] error message SOLVED
by sean hunt
Hi Patrick
The contacts were imported from my Nokia N95. Most of the contacts in
the Nokia were created in Evolution and synced previously although some
were created in the Nokia N95.
I can live with this ordering problem and try to sort it out bit by
bit.
I am just happy to have everything syncing again.
cheers

[SyncEvolution] sean error message SOLVED
by sean hunt
I installed some Gnome bits and it syncs ok now with no error message.
One remaining problem is that Evolution seems to insist on ordering by
last name whereas the phone and previous Evolution Contacts folders
ordered by First name. Maybe there is a simple fix for this?

[SyncEvolution] re error 22001
by sean hunt
I installed Bodhi an enlightenment distro and eventually got bluetooth
working then synced and I got this error....22001
The syncing seemed fine with calendar and memos and actuallly the
contacts, though misplaced, alphabetically were in the file, just
re-ordered according to last names. Then I checked the Evolution
settings and......
I realised that I didn't have gnome pilot tools or any 'gnome' installed
and tried to install gnome but was told I was missing "swfdec-mozilla"
I tried to install that and got this error:
daka@T:~/Downloads$ sudo dpkg -i swfdec-mozilla_0.8.2-1ubuntu2_i386.deb
Selecting previously deselected package swfdec-mozilla.
(Reading database ... 120670 files and directories currently installed.)

`./usr/lib/swfdec-mozilla/libswfdecmozilla.so')
Errors were encountered while processing:

Anyone have a suggestion? I am not completely new to Linux but neither
am I old and competent!
Cheers
