Hey Patrick. I ran the test and it found a configuration that works. I
was successfully then able to use the configuration. It also dumped this
for my phone, a Nokia E71, in case this is useful for you.

That's the same configuration as in the normal Nokia template. It's good
that the script worked as intended, but I'm still puzzled that you
didn't get the phone to work with the sync UI.
Can you show me the output of "syncevolution --print-config -q
nokia_e71"? When you set up that config in the UI, did you select the
Nokia template?
