I could do that - or access / pointer to that experiemtal repo would
be
nice too. I checked Maemo-extras-devel for it but it is not in there yet.
Oh, it's definitely in Maemo extras-devel. Perhaps you're just not aware
that Hildon Application Manager will only show the frontend, not
syncevolution itself, and I haven't built a new frontend package to pull
in the new syncevolution package (and the new syncevolution works fine
with the old frontend, so I didn't have to update the frontend for that
reason either). If you need it, you can probably get it using apt-get or
by visiting
http://maemo.org/packages/view/syncevolution/
One reason I haven't yet bothered to get it out of extras-devel is that
most probably *don't* need it. There are very few changes that will
matter to a normal N900 user (for example, syncevolution's Bluetooth
stuff is compiled out, since Nokia's own default firmware already does
Bluetooth syncing). And, of course, anyone who do need it can get it
from extras-devel.
And another reason, I guess, is that someone probably should write a new
Maemo Contacts backend for syncevolution, and I haven't got around to it
yet. The Evolution backend is not good enough because Maemo handles
photos in a way that syncevolution doesn't know how to handle, unless a
backend that uses Maemo's osso-abook is written. I don't really want to
promote a new version into Extras-testing (and make a frontend that
depends on it) before I can fix that...
