Hi all,
I wanna use sqlite as backend for data synchronisation instead of
syncevolution DB . How can I do that ? where should i modify in code or in
file configuration ?
also How can i get the xml messages exchanged between the syncevolution
client and the server ( Funambol server for example ) ? I mean explicit xml
messages not the logs detailed syncevolution-log.html ?

You can look at the existing sqlite backend (src/backends/sqlite) as a
starting point for synchronizing with data stored in sqlite. You'll have
to write code, there is no configuration mechanism.
Another alternative would be to enable the use of the Synthesis ODBC
backend and hook that up to sqlite. I don't know whether ODBC supports
sqlite, nor have I ever tried to use the ODBC backend with
SyncEvolution. It might be as simple as creating a backend which doesn't
do anything in its own code and instead just returns the right XML
config in getSynthesisInfo(). Not possible right now, but could be
easily added. Look at SyncSourceBase::getDatastoreXML().

Run with loglevel=3 for the translated messages (written as they get
parsed, works for WBXML as well as XML) or loglevel=4 (also dumps the
original message, without translation).

Can i add the suspend /resume mechanism in an old version of syncevolution ?
i mean the 0.8.1 version .
is there any method to add it safely ?
It will help me to do some tests concerning slow sync. I wanna test the
duplication on the server due to slow sync in order to identify the reasons
and how to avoid it using suspend/resume .
if there is any other possible solution that can avoid slow sync in the
0.8.1 version ? .
I know that the new version implements this mechanism but the problem that
i'm familiarized with this old version . until i succeed to add my sqlite
backend to new syncevolution version that use synthesis, i wanna test this
mechanism on the old version . Please help me to do this .

That's not an easy task. You would have to improve the Funambol C++
client library to support suspend/resume.

You need to find the root cause for the slow sync and fix it. But if the
slow sync turns out to be because of network issues, then suspend/resume
is the only proper solution. Needs to be supported by the server, too,
though, and not just as "recognize resume and reject it". That's
standard compliant, but not very useful.

libsynthesis supports sqlite natively, no need to use ODBC for that :-)
It might be as simple as creating a backend which doesn't

For a (reasonably elaborated) sample of a SQLite based datastore config, you could take a
look at the sunbird sample in the Windows or Mac OS X Synthesis SDK (available from their

i wanna know if duplicated events are created on the server side and it's
due to a slow sync . How can we resolve this problem ? is there any action
that can be done on the server side? wat' s the probable causes for this
duplication?

Yes.

Use a server with better duplicate detection or configure it
differently, if you can.
wat' s the probable causes for this duplication?
The server has a copy of item A and gets a slightly different copy A'
from the client. Then it doesn't match the two, but instead decided that
A and A' are different items.
