Hello list members,
As of August the Funambol client ceased working on my phone (Nokia E72)
(Syncevolution is OK). I guess Funambol are dropping Symbian support and
I was looking for a substitute.
Nokia OVI works fine on the phone, but it gives me an error in
Syncevolution (1.4.1 Debian):

then it times out.
Can that be solved, or has OVI become incompatible?
I'd prefer OVI over others because it has schedule capability on the
phone (like Funambol had, and unlike other manually-setup syncs).

How did you log into it there? Is there still a web interface? Which
credentials did you use for SyncEvolution?

I can reproduce that. It only happens after several SyncML message
exchanges where the server rejects the client credentials. I was using
credentials which used to work. I suspect it is a denial-of-service
protection. The real problem is getting username and password right.
Can that be solved, or has OVI become incompatible?
I wasn't even aware that ovi.com was still offering a SyncML service.
ovi.com redirects to here.com and that doesn't mention SyncML at all.
This renders the old instructions for adding a new client ("
Register your account at Ovi.com, add your phone by Ovi.com->Login->Add
Device") obsolete.

There's a built-in "OVI sync" app. but it doesn't show much. I entered
my Nokia credentials when I 1st set up my phone. AFAICT my only options
were to enter the credentials.

No, as you say below, I end up on here.com. Once logged in, I do have an
option to log into my Nokia account, but there are only basic options
there (personal info etc.), nothing about syncing.

I'm not even sure it does, as the "OVI sync" app. is different from the
"Sync" app., where various SyncML services can be configured.
I'd gladly use this latter app. if only it could be scheduled.
As for "OVI Sync", I couldn't tell for sure whether it uses SyncML.
Yes, I searched for these and I noticed the changes.
More generally, I don't know if it makes much sense starting using OVI
these days.
In the meantime I tested Everdroid aka Mobical fairly successfully. If
only I could schedule the sync... I wonder what would happen if I fed
the Everdroid parameters into the (schedulable) Funambol client; I plan
to try that.

That has never worked. Each device had be registered separately and then
got its own credentials.

I'm not even sure it does, as the "OVI sync" app. is different from the
"Sync" app., where various SyncML services can be configured.
The SyncML service is at least still there. But if one cannot add
non-Symbian devices anymore, the service is essentially closed for new
SyncEvolution users.
